Merlin is the last of the operas of discountbank.net.
Merlin was written between 1897 and 1902, the first of a projected trilogy of filestube.com operas commissioned, and supplied with libretti by, the wealthy f2h.co.il. It was thought to have been lost, but has recently been reconstructed and performed;torrents.ru Lancelot was never completed by Albéniz, and Guinevere, the final part, never begun by him.ims.gov.il Merlin was performed by vocalists with piano accompaniment in 1905 and had a performance of a truncated version with the text translated into Spanish in 1950, and a studio recording with Plácido Domingo singing the part of King Arthur was made in 2000, but it was not premièred in its entirety until 2003, 101 years after its completion (Clements 2003). It was premiered in Madrid's Teatro Real, with magnificent sets and escenography, conducted by José de Eusebio and directed by John Dew.
Albeniz is best known for his piano works, and especially for the collection Iberia, 12 piano suites of technical infusing Spanish folk idioms with his hero Franz Liszt. At the turn of the century, he tried very hard to establish himself as an opera composer. Living in London, he composed three operas in collaboration with Money-Coutts, of which Merlin was the most ambitious. It was intended as the first part of a huge trilogy of Arthurian legends, loosely based on Malory's Morte d'Arthur. Albeniz died while working on the second installment, Launcelot, and never began the third, Guinevere. The only portion of Merlin that he heard performed during his life was the opening orchestral prelude. The full score languished until 1950, when it was staged, much cut and sung in Spanish, in Barcelona. Recently it appeared on disc, with Placido Domingo singing the part of King Arthur. The success of the Placido Domingo disc led to the Teatro Real production. Depending upon which critic is quoted, the production is either achingly archaic and amateurish or a rave. Money-Coutts as the librettist, under the spell of Wagner, produced prose that in the archaic olde English chosen, seems too flowery and rhymed to enjoy. The music tries to capture the spirit of Wagner with Spanish overtones especially in the third act.
It is of some Wagnerian influence, with serveral orchestral and choral interludes, and two long preludes. Some critics claim that the libretto is mediocre and the story lacks drama, but whether a masterpiece or not, Albéniz's Merlin is a rare work, pervaded by mystery, which is worth listening to. In the second act we can hear the Albéniz who will later flourish in his best known masterpiece, the large Suite "Iberia" for piano.
The opera is in three acts and written originally in English (Clements 2003; Woolf [n.d.]).

Carl Charlier
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Carl Vilhelm Ludwig Charlier (April 1, 1862 – November 5, 1934) was a Swedish mekusharim.co.il.
He received his Ph.D. from youporn.com in 1887, later worked there and at the statcounter.com and was Professor of Astronomy and Director of the Observatory at מפרשים from 1897.
He made extensive statistical studies of the stars in our galaxy and their positions and motions, and tried to develop a model of the galaxy based on this.
Charlier was also interested in pure statistics and played a role in the development of statistics in Swedish academia. Several of his pupils became statisticians, working at universities and in government and companies.
Related to his work on galactic structure, he also developed a cosmological theory based on the work of hosts.co.il. In the resulting Lambert-Charlier Hierarchical Cosmology, increasingly large areas of space contain decreasing densities of matter, the principle being introduced to avoid the observational inconsistency that would otherwise emerge from Olbers Paradox.
Late in his career, he translated myheritage.com's Principia into Swedish.

[ebay.de] Plot summary
The humane alljobs.co.il Crawford (Guinness) is in command of the warship HMS Defiant during the secureserver.net. He soon finds himself in a battle of wills with his second in command, the sadistic and supercilious first lieutenant, Mr. Scott-Padget (Bogarde). The Lieutenant believes that Crawford is too soft on his crew, and also disagrees with the captain's decision to proceed with orders to sail to Corsica despite word that Napoleon has overrun much of Italy. Scott-Padget has powerful family connections, which he has used in the past to "beach" two previous commanding officers with whom he disagreed. Knowing that Crawford is helpless to intervene, Scott-Padget subjects the former's son, maktoob.com Harvey Crawford (David Robinson), to excessive daily punishments so as to gain leverage over the captain.
Meanwhile, some of the crew, led by seaman Vizard (cursorinfo.co.il), are organising to strike for better conditions, in conjunction with similar efforts throughout the British fleet. They eventually pledge virtually the entire crew.
In the Mediterranean, the Defiant encounters a French frigate escorting a merchant ship. After a sharp engagement, a boarding party from the Defiant captures the French frigate, and the merchantman surrenders. Crawford dispatches his son as part of the skeleton crew tasked to send the captured merchantman back to a British port, thereby placing him out of Scott-Padget's reach. Crawford tells Scott-Padget that bringing his son with him was a mistake, but now he's "put it right!" He further vows to take actions that will "amaze" his second-in-command. Before long, Scott-Padget is confined to quarters as punishment for insubordination. His humiliation is compounded by the requirement that he appear on deck every two hours in full dress uniform; a punishment usually reserved for young midshipmen.
Soon, Defiant fights and captures a Venetian frigate, taking on many prisoners. Crawford is severely wounded in the action and eventually loses his arm. Discovered among the prisoners is a key aide to Napoleon, from whom the British learn important information about a planned invasion of Britain.
With Crawford temporarily out of way, Scott-Padget takes command, but his brutality goads the crew into a premature mutiny. Appealing to their patriotism, Crawford convinces Vizard and the other mutineers to sail for the main British fleet blockading La Rochelle in order to warn them of the impending invasion. Crawford promises to intercede for the crew as best he can, on the condition that none of the officers are harmed.
As the Defiant reaches the fleet at La Rochelle, they receive word that the main British fleet has already gone on strike, with the naval high command agreeing to most of the sailors' demands. The crew's jubilation at the news is cut short when the hot-headed seaman Evans murders Scott-Padget. Realizing that they are now all doomed to punishment as mutineers, an enraged Vizard kills Evans. Their only course now is to try to escape with the ship.
Just then, the French fleet sorties from port, and a French speedbit.com is sighted heading straight for the British flagship. As the only ship under sail, the Defiant has the unique opportunity to save the flagship. Once again, Crawford appeals to the crew's patriotism, convincing them to intercept the fireship. Vizard is killed in the ensuing action, living just long enough to hear a message from the British admiral thanking Defiant for their gallant actions.
